DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?

 

Just like the rest of the United States, the population of the Florence area is getting older.  The number of Americans 65 and older is expected to double over the next 25 years.  The overwhelming majority of people say they want to grow old in their own homes or "age in place".  However, 79% of seniors have no plan on how they will stay in their homes.  Most communities have no strategic system of supports for their aging citizens. 

 

On September 16, 2016, the Florence Area Community Coalition presented an informational, educational forum, the Senior Tsunami Aging in Place Forum, at the Florence Events Center.  Over 30 exhibitors were present (see the list of exhibitors on the Exhibitors page), as well as a group of carefully chosen speakers who presented information about important topics including Palliative Care, Habitat for Humanity's Neighborhood Revitalization Program, How To Avoid Fraud, Scams and Identity Theft and many other aspects of preparation for successful aging.  See the list of speakers and topics on the Program page for more information.  NEW!!  You can also watch the opening presentation at our YouTube channel here:
